Marius began playing tennis in Romania, at an early age on red clay courts, since his mother was an avid player and was being coached by Ilie Năstase, the #1 player in the early 70’s. His family immigrated to Barcelona, where he continued to train and ultimately settled in New York City, in 1983. Marius continued to train at the then named USTA National Tennis Center, now currently better known as the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. He began his coaching career over 23 years ago as the Director of Tennis in East Brunswick, NJ and has enjoyed progressing in his career at some of the finest private clubs in the northeast, where he has also learned to compete and teach pickleball, platform tennis (“paddle”) and squash. Along with his wife of more than 17 years and two teenage daughters, Marius relocated to Naples in the late summer of 2019 and most recently had been the Director of Racquets at the TwinEagles Club.
